The Best Friend I Want

I have a small list of celebrities that I would one day like to be friends with. Maybe that’s not okay to admit, but it is the truth. On that list are the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Adele, Sam Heughan, and quite a few others, including the wonderful Mindy Kaling.

Beginning with The Office and following her to The Mindy Project,  I have admired Kaling’s sense of humor and work ethic for years. I love that she tells it likes it is and writes characters that are lovable and flawed. The opportunity to have dinner with a role model like Mindy Kaling would be both hilariously fun as well as inspirational.

Prompt 9 – Who Would You Take to Dinner?

This week, the blog council wants you to write about a LIVING person you would like to have dinner with. This can be any person in the world, as long as she or he is not a family member. Some ideas for content include brainstorming questions you would ask them, thinking about where you would go to eat, what you would order and most importantly, why do you want to go to dinner with this person?

You can write it as an actual dialogue.

Use this to SHOW your reader why your person is interesting rather than TELLING the reader.  Showing more is a great writing skill.

Be creative with this prompt and have fun, we look forward to seeing your posts!

Pop-Culture Profundity- Blog 4

For your next blog post (#4), the idea is to use the blog to have some fun, probe how popular culture (TV, film, comics, music, books, video games, and so on) reflect issues relevant to our class such as ethics, business, power, politics, and the like.

One of my classes last year did a similar theme, but more focused on TV.  You can see that BC report here.  Or, a later one here (BGS 4):

You have a lot of latitude.

Before you hit “PUBLISH:”

1) Proofread

2) Get a featured image (and source it in post)

3) Add a mulitmedia clip.  many, like youtube or vivo can be embedded in your post.  Video help.  Audio help.

4) From now on, when you READ posts, RATE THEM using the star voting.  Try to give only 1-2 5-stars a week.

5) Try adding a poll if you want like I did.  Click “add poll” when composing prompt.
